FAQ
1. Who will pick up my child from the airport?
If you cannot accompany your child to the camp we will be glad to pick him/her up from the airport. Along with the registration please provide detailed information about the place and time of departure, flight number, the name of the airport, and the arrival time. An employee of the DAS Akademie will meet your child at the airport. Participants who arrive by train can be met at the train station. The DAS Akademie charges a total (not per person) of 50,- EUR for 1-4 persons and 90, - EUR for 5-8 persons. If the participant would like to be taken to the airport or train station after the camp, the same fees apply.
2. When to arrive/leave?
If possible, the participants should arrive on Saturday, August 4, 2012, between 12:00 and 18:00 and leave the camp on Saturday, August 18, 2012, by 18:00. If the arrival/departure time requires that the participant stays one more night before or after the camp, there is an additional charge of 60, - Euro per extra night.
3. What food will be provided?
Each country has different eating habits. Our facility provides typical German cuisine. There will be a rich buffet for breakfast. For lunch and dinner the participants will get a warm meal.
For the daytrips a box lunch will be provided.
Outside of meal times, beverages, snacks and sweets can be bought.
If the participant is vegetarian or does not eat pork, please inform us at the time of registration. Alternatives can be served for all meals.
4. What are the rules of the summer camp?
Each age group has fixed bed time hours.
Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited!
Participation in lessons is compulsory.
In case of illness, a DAS Akademie team member should promptly be notified, in order to ensure adequate medical care.
Please indicate a contact person for the case of an emergency.
5. What are the school hours?
Normally, the teaching begins after breakfast or after lunch. Depending on the day, the program may vary at times.
6. What are the German lessons like?
The teachers of the academy are native speakers. The students are placed in appropriate classes based on their language skills, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference (levels A1 to C1). A class consists of a maximum of 15 participants, so that effective learning is ensured. We place emphasis on communicative teaching, in which the students practice the German language while having fun, and without inhibitions.
7. How do we find the right class for my child?
Before Summer Camp you will be sent a link with a password, where you can complete the assessment test online. The levels of the academy are the Common European Framework of Reference, ranging from A1 and A2 (for beginners) to levels B1 and B2 to level C1. At the same time we try to assign the students according to their age.
8. Is there an exam?
At the end of the summer camp there will be a final exam on the issues discussed. The test is considered passed if 50 percent of the tasks are completed successfully. On successful completion, participants will receive a participation certificate issued by the DAS Akademie.
9. How much pocket money should I bring?
The 3 daily meals, excursions and recreational activities organised by the DAS Akademie are included in the price of the summer camp. Any additional expenses must be paid with the student's own money. We can say that according to age and interests an amount of 150,- to 250,- Euro could be necessary. Of course, the amount is left to your discretion.
10. Where can valuables be stored?
Generally, we advise you not to bring valuables where it can be avoided. Valuable items can be given to a member of DAS Akademie staff for safe keeping. Passports must be handed in for safety and will be returned before departure. Please do not bring laptops.
11. What happens in case of illness?
In case of illness, the contact person of the DAS Academy will immediately be informed. For more serious illnesses the student will be brought directly to a doctor or possibly the hospital. Please inform us of your child's blood type and whether they have any allergies or regular medication needs.
