Izmir, the pearl of the Aegean Sea. The Aegean coast of Turkey is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. Izmir is the capital, the commercial center and cultural heart of the Aegean Sea. Izmir has the second largest port and is the third largest city in Turkey. It is situated in the gulf of the same name. The symbol of Izmir, the clock tower "Saat Kulesi" stands in the center of town, on the square of Konak. Antiques, jewelry, leather and spice, everything your heart desires, can be discovered in the streets of the bazaar Kemeraltı. The "Kordon" holds the title of "Longest bar in the world". You'll find restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes right up to the water.

The Culture Park is the largest park in the city. With its gardens, restaurants, discos, nightclubs and a fairground, the park is a popular tourist destination. The cultural park, the Kordon and the Kemeraltı Bazaar are all just 5 minutes on foot from the Academy. In the wider area of Izmir, the popular places Çeşme, Kuşadası, Foça and Karaburun can all be reached by bus in just 1-1.5 hours.
